Infrastructure case study
Cloud Cost Optimization
Cut a production cloud bill from ~$867/month on GCP to $50–57/month on DigitalOcean.
93% lower cloud bill
The problem
A production platform was spending about $200 every week on Google Cloud — roughly $867 a month — for workloads that did not need hyperscaler pricing.
What we built
- Audited every running service, database and load balancer against real traffic
- Re-platformed the stack onto right-sized DigitalOcean infrastructure
- Consolidated databases and ingress, removed idle and duplicated resources
- Kept monitoring and deploy pipelines working through the cut-over
Outcome
Monthly infrastructure cost went from about $867 to $50–57 — a ~93% reduction, saving roughly $9,700 a year with the same product running.
